Dr. Staffan Canback is a 35 year veteran of the management consulting industry. He founded Canback Consulting in 2004 on the premise that the availability of better analytical tools, combined with the growth of emerging countries, would open up an opportunity for a new, differentiated, management consulting firm.
At Canback, he consults to chief executives of some of the world’s largest corporations. He is an expert on developing corporate and business unit strategy, executing operational M&A due diligence, finding growth opportunities around the world, and on organizational design.
Before founding Canback, he was a partner at McKinsey & Company and at Monitor Company. He has lived in 6 countries and worked on the ground in 70 countries.
Dr. Canback holds a doctorate from Henley Business School, an MBA from Harvard Business School (Fulbright Scholar) and an MSc in Electrical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology. His research on diseconomies of scale in large corporations won the EDAMBA award for best European doctoral dissertation in business in 2003.
Arshad is a Vice President at Canback responsible for the Africa and Middle East Region. He has extensive experience in strategy development, organizational design, and risk management. He has led many market entry, sources of growth ,growth and organizational design projects at the firm.
He has worked on the ground across sub-Saharan Africa covering financial services, retail and FMCG. Before joining Canback he was a member of the Barclays Africa Risk Executive Committee.
Arshad previously worked at the South Africa Central Bank, Ernst & Young and Deloitte. He has an MBA from the Milpark Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce from Wits University in Johannesburg.
Ying jointed Canback in 2012 and was elected Vice President in 2018. She leads consulting activities in Asia and has been working with senior executives of multinational clients in consumer, financial, and retail sectors.
Her expertise includes pricing, go-to-market, Sources of Growth, and sales and marketing strategies. Ying holds a BA and an MA in Economics from Boston University.
